640 students are currently enrolled Pre-School thru 8th Grade. There are 3 sections of each grade level 1st thru 8th.

2. How many students are in a class?
22 to 23 students is the average number in a class. (A class is closed at 25.)

3. What ancillary (specials) classes do you offer?
Music, Art, Physical Education, Technology, Library and Spanish are offered to the majority of our students in K--8. Formal art class begins in 1st Grade and Spanish begins in 2nd Grade.

4. How often do the children attend Mass?
Students attend Mass once a week. They go to an All-School Mass or to a Class Mass. Generally, Class Masses have been as follows: Tuesday, Gr. 4,5; Wednesday, Gr. 6,7,8 and Thursday, Gr. 1,2,3.

5. How often do the children have religion class?
Students have Religion daily except for Mass days. Students in Gr. 6,7,8 have Religion daily including Mass days.

6. Are the parish priests involved in the education of the students?
We are doubly blessed to have Monsignor Charles and Fr. Greg. They genuinely love children and prepare homilies that are age appropriate and speak directly to the children. Both men are true shepherds of the faith at Curé of Ars. (They come over to school when their schedules allow.) Both priests are involved in the "Respect and Dignity" classes for Gr. 5-8.

7. Are there opportunities for parents to be involved in the school?
Our Parent Teacher Organization has many opportunities for volunteering: Classroom, Library, Computer Lab, Cafeteria, Playground, numerous PTO Committees for every interest. Some volunteer positions are weekly, monthly or once a year. Our parents are interested in education and back up their beliefs with service to the school. We love our parent Volunteers.

8. How do Curé of Ars students score on standardized tests?
Our Grade Level Building Composite Scores once again confirm that academic excellence is a priority at Curé of Ars. Our Percentile Ranking among all the schools in the nation that take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills are as follows for the past three years:

9. Are students involved with service to the community?
All students in the school are involved in service projects. (They may be making cards for the nearby retirement community, collecting school supplies for our "sister" school, serving lunch to the homeless in a food kitchen, working with residents in an assisted living community, etc.)

10. Does Curé of Ars have an instrumental music pjrogram?
We have a band program available to students in Gr. 5-8. Currently, we have a beginning and advanced band which meets after school. In addition, our band teacher teaches a Jazz Tech Class to interested students in Gr. 5-8.

11. Does Curé of Ars have a Jr. High Youth Group?
Yes, it is called C/XTREME and our Youth Minister is Emily Salem. It is a very active Youth Group and our students enjoy the social and religious experiences.

12. Are sports teams available at Curé of Ars?
The C.Y.O. sponsors the sports of Curé of Ars.
Beginning in 5th Grade the following sports are available to students:
Girls: Volleyball, basketball and track
Boys: Football (Begins in 4th Gr.), basketball and track
There are many other sports available in our community. Parents of younger students often get a team together for soccer and other sports.

13. Are there other activities in which students participate?
Our students participate in Science Olympiads, Bell Choir, Chorale, Honor Choir, Quiz Bowl, Modern Woodman Speech Contest, White Rose Essay Contest, Pro-Life Essay Contest, and Vocations Essay Contest; as well as parish sponsored Boy and Girl Scouts Troups.

14. Do students serve the school during the day?
From the First Grade, students begin to lector and cantor at the Children's Masses. All boys and girls are trained as 5th Graders to become Altar Servers. Our 5th-8th Graders serve as Safety Patrol members. Middle School students are also elected to serve on the Student Council.

15. How is tuition paid at Curé of Ars?
Cure of Ars is a tithing parish. All parishioners are asked to pay 5% of take-home pay. Only Pre-School is funded through tuition.

17. Do you ever have an Open House?
We have an Open House on the last Sunday in January (to coincide with Cathoic Schools Week) from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

We offer a program for 3-year olds on Tues. and Thurs. mornings from 8:00-11:00 AM
We offer a program for 3-year olds on Tues. and Thurs. afternoons from 12:15-3:10 PM.
Three year old students must be three before September 1st.
We offer a program for 4-year olds on Mon./Wed./Fri. mornings from 8:00-11:00 AM.
We offer a program for 4-year olds on Mon./Wed./Fri. afternoons from 12:15-3:10 PM.

20. What Kindergarten options do you have?
We currently offer one all-day kindergarten class and a half-day morning and a half-day afternoon kindergarten class. Students are equally well prepared for First Grade coming from the Half-Day or All-Day Kindergartens.

21. Is there a Kindergarten Round-up in the Spring?
We hold a Kindergarten Screening in the Spring. All registered kindergarten students will be invited to Curé of Ars in March for a get-acquainted day and screening.

22. Do you offer before and after school care for students?
We have an after-school care program from 3:15-6:00 PM for all-day students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. (Our doors open at 7:00 AM in the morning and students may wait in the Front Hall if they need to be dropped early.)

23. Does Curé of Ars have a Hot Lunch Program?
Yes, we have a nutritious lunch provided every day. This is a state-funded program which allows us to provide Free or Reduced lunches for qualifying families. We have a Wellness Program in place which addresses the nutrition curriculum, physical fitness and nutritious school meal menus.

Students in Grades 1-8 wear a school uniform.

We are fortunate to have a full time nurse and a school counselor. Our counselor is here 4 days a week.
